Flyers’ Luke Schenn on first-period brawl: ‘That’s the way it goes’

The bad blood between the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals continued, as the two teams engaged in a line brawl in the first period of Wednesday’s game.

Oh yeah, the Flyers managed to hang on for the 6-4 win over their Metropolitan Division foes. The melee, however, was a topic of discussion afterward. It also led to the ejection of Flyers’ forward Vincent Lecavalier, who found himself in a secondary altercation with John Erskine. Lecavalier is known best for his talent with the puck than his fisticuffs.

“Obviously, you don’t want to see guys like Vinny get kicked out of the game,” Flyers’ defenseman Luke Schenn, who fought Washington’s Tom Wilson in the main event, told CSN Philadelphia.

“That’s a bad trade-off for us. But sometimes guys are standing up for each other and that’s the way it goes sometimes.”
