In 2010, as a member of the Montreal Canadiens, Jaroslav Halak almost single-handedly beat the Washington Capitals. Today, he was traded to them, along with a third-round pick in the 2015 draft.

Halak was only recently acquired by the Sabres in the Ryan Miller trade. The 28-year-old never played for Buffalo before he was flipped to the Caps, who sent goalie Michal Neuvirth and defenseman Rostislav Klesla to the Sabres.

In Washington, Halak -- a pending unrestricted free agent -- will push Braden Holtby for the starting job as the Caps make a push for the playoffs.
