‘We’re not trading’ Shea Weber, says Preds GM

Nashville general manager David Poile says he’s not trading Shea Weber. And according to ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun, he’s saying it “firmly.”

“We’re not trading Shea,” said Poile, “we’ve told that to everybody, people ask and it’s their right to ask, but we’re not trading him.”

You may recall back in November when we added to the speculation that the Oilers could make a pitch for Weber. And because we’re stubborn, we’re not quite ready to officially give up on that idea.

The real proof in the pudding will come this summer, not before Wednesday’s trade deadline, when the budget-conscious Preds have to pay Weber another $13 million bonus, per his $110 million contract.
