Martin St. Louis is at the center of trade speculation, so it probably only increased interest for hockey fans when the veteran Tampa Bay Lightning forward scored twice Thursday night.
Only problem, as far as the whole team game goes, was the Lightning coughed up a two-goal lead and lost 3-2 to the Nashville Predators, who scored three consecutive power play goals to complete the victory.
On Wednesday, there were reports the 38-year-old St. Louis, fresh off returning from Sochi as a gold medalist with Team Canada, is “locked” onto the New York Rangers as a possible destination for a trade.
The NHL’s trade deadline is March 5.
St. Louis is only perpetuating the speculation, by saying he’s had conversations with Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman about his future with the Lightning, the team St. Louis captains.
