Report: Flames’ MacDermid to retire at 24

Interesting news out of Calgary — according to Sportsnet’s Fan 960, forward Lane MacDermid has opted to retire.

MacDermid, 24, was acquired by Calgary from Dallas in November and appeared in one game for the Flames, spending most of his time with AHL Abbotsford.

Prior to his time with the Flames, MacDermid played with Boston and Dallas — he was part of the deal that sent Jaromir Jagr to the Bruins at the ’13 NHL Trade deadline.
