T.J. Oshie doesn’t believe he’s a hero, despite shootout excellence against Russia

T.J. Oshie put on perhaps one of the most memorable performance in the shootout, on the biggest stage, against a powerhouse team (watch it by clicking here). In the hockey world, he’s being given hero status for scoring four times in the deciding skills competition in a spectacular win against Russia on Saturday.

From his peers in the National Hockey League, to those in the media, to U.S. President Barack Obama, Oshie is receiving plenty of recognition in the social media world.

But he’s no hero. At least he doesn’t believe he is, despite what he did under enormous pressure. To Oshie, the heroes are those putting their lives on the line every day.

“The American heroes are wearing camo. That’s not me,” said Oshie, as per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
