Video: Subban knocks puck into own net in OT loss

Subban

The Tampa Bay Lightning were missing forward Valtteri Filppula in addition to Steven Stamkos on Saturday, so naturally scoring against Montreal’s Carey Price was particularly challenging. Fortunately for them, they caught a break.

While the Lightning were killing a penalty in the second period, Nate Thompson tried to feed the puck to J.T. Brown as he charged towards the Canadiens’ crease. However, defenseman P.K. Subban attempted to intercept the pass and ended up knocking it into his own net:

That proved to be a critical play as Tampa Bay went on to record a 2-1 overtime win against the Montreal Canadiens.

The victory gave Tampa Bay a little more breathing room over Montreal in the battle for second place in the Atlantic Division. It also allowed Tampa Bay to keep pace with the division-leading Bruins, who beat the Edmonton Oilers this afternoon.
