Washington defenseman Mike Green has been sidelined with a concussion before, so there had to be a sense of dread among those in the Capitals organization when they saw his head collide into the glass after being smashed into the end boards by Blue Jackets forward Boone Jenner on Thursday.
Green was held out of Friday’s game as a precaution, but he woke up feeling much better on Saturday. He decided to take advantage of the situation and participate in the team’s practice.
He might even play on Sunday, although Green isn’t ready to make a commitment yet.
“Obviously, I’ve been down this path before, so I know the symptoms,” Green told CSN Washington. “I’m just making sure we’re doing the right thing here.”
If you haven’t seen the original hit, here it is:
Jenner didn’t have a disciplinary hearing for his actions and Green seems to agree with the NHL’s decision. The Capitals blueliner said he had no issues with the hit.
