Video: Kopitar ends Stalock’s franchise record-breaking shutout streak

Kopitar goal

Alex Stalock broke the San Jose Sharks’ record for the longest shutout streak tonight, but Anze Kopitar got the Kings on the board first at 17:56 of the second period.

Appropriately, after Stalock had been perfect for so long, it took an impressive goal to finally beat him:

Stalock’s streak latest 178:55 minutes, which was just under eight minutes better than the old mark set by Evgeni Nabokov in 2009, according to CSN Bay Area.

That marker also ended the Kings’ goal scoring drought at 154:43 minutes. Los Angeles is trying to end a five-game slump while San Jose still hopes to extend its winning streak to seven contests.
