Report: Ducks’ Sheldon Souray to have season-ending wrist surgery

Sheldon Souray has yet to play a game this season, and he won’t get to.

According to, sources have told Mark Spector that Souray, the Anaheim Ducks’ defenseman, will have season-ending wrist surgery on Friday.

In 44 regular season games with the Ducks during the lockout-shortened campaign, Souray scored seven goals and had 17 points. He also appeared in six playoff games, adding one assist.

The Ducks put the 37-year-old Souray on injured reserve at the end of September, just prior to the start of the regular season.

In late August, it was revealed that Souray suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist during an off-ice workout. At the time, it looked as if he would be out four-to-six months, which led the Ducks to sign depth blue liner Mark Fistric.
