Video: Blackhawks soak in Kane’s painfully slow own-goal

It’s been a charmed year-or-so for Patrick Kane, but that doesn’t mean that every bounce goes his way. Sunday demonstrated that quite dramatically, as he sent a pass that traveled just about the full distance of the ice into his own empty net:

Talk about a slow burn.

As you can see, the own-goal shows that there is a risk in vacating your own net for the extra attacker during a delayed penalty.

Still, the Chicago Blackhawks probably cash in on that situation more often than most NHL teams, so this will probably mainly be something that Kane’s teammates (and the Edmonton Oilers) can have a little chuckle about. Especially since the ‘Hawks won 5-3.
