The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled goalie Anton Khudobin from the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers, for whom he played two games on a conditioning stint.

The move once again gives the ‘Canes three goalies -- Khudobin, Cam Ward, and Justin Peters -- and won’t do anything to quell the speculation that one of them will be traded shortly.

“It’s always a little tricky with three goalies,” said coach Kirk Muller, per the News & Observer. “At the end of the day the guy who gives us the better opportunity to win a hockey game will play.”

Ward will start tonight versus Montreal. With just one win in their last nine games, the Hurricanes are desperate for a W.

“We’re in a game of getting results,” Muller said. “We feel we’re playing well enough to win games but not finishing them off. That’s the bottom line.”
