The Columbus Blue Jackets put pen to paper on a deal with right winger Oliver Bjorkstrand.

The Blue Jackets signed Bjorkstrand, selected with the 89th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, to a three-year entry-level contract, as per the Columbus Dispatch.

“Oliver Bjorkstrand is a talented player with a tremendous work ethic, and we believe he has an extremely bright future,” Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said in a statement on the team’s website.

“He is enjoying a breakout season in the WHL this year, and is one of a group of young players in our organization that we are very excited about.”

Born in Herning, Denmark, Bjorkstrand is in his second season with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks. In 32 games so far this season, he has 25 goals - he scored 31 in 65 games last season - and has 56 points.

Last season, he had 63 points with Portland.
