Sweden’s world junior team just got another major boost in its quest for gold on home soil.
The Nashville Predators loaned 19-year-old center Filip Forsberg to play for Sweden in the 2013-14 IIHF World Junior Championships, which begin Dec. 26 in Malmo, Sweden, as per a statement from the National Hockey League club on Sunday.
Forsberg played for Sweden in each of the last two junior championships, winning gold in the 2012 competition. In 12 games with the Predators, Forsberg, has one goal and five points.
This news comes on the same day as Sweden laying a thumping on Team Canada by a score of 3-0.
“I know what kind of team Canada will be showing up with and if I take a look at what they have and compare them to what we have, I would have to say on paper, we have a much better team,” Swedish forward Andre Burakowsky recently told the media, as per the Canadian Press.
