Video: Gudbranson booted after leveling Fehr, fighting Brouwer

Gudbranson hit

Florida Panthers defenseman Erik Gudbranson was booted from tonight’s game against the Washington Capitals and he might be in line for further punishment.

Late in the second period, Gudbranson delivered a hard hit to Eric Fehr that appeared to catch the Capitals forward in the head. Troy Brouwer rose to Fehr’s defense, but lost the subsequent scrap against Gudbranson.

Brouwer received an instigator penalty and misconduct in addition to his fighting major.

You can view the incident below:

Fehr temporarily left the game, but he returned for the third period, according to the Washington Post’s Katie Carrera. Meanwhile, that incident sparked both teams as they traded three goals in the final four minutes of the second period to tie the contest at 2-2.

For his part, Panthers GM Dale Tallon is going to try and get NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan to rescind the match penalty, reports the Miami Herald’s George Richards.
