Flyers’ Schenn fined for Versteeg cross-check

Philadelphia forward Brayden Schenn has been fined $2,230.77 for cross-checking Chicago’s Kris Versteeg during Wednesday’s 7-2 loss, the NHL has announced.

Schenn hit Versteeg midway through the second period, but no penalty was called on the play. The $2,230.77 fine is the maximum allowable under terms of the collective bargaining agreement, and all money will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Schenn does have a history with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety. Last season, he was suspended one game for a headshot on New Jersey defenseman Anton Volchenkov.
