Quick (groin) thinks he’s a few days to week from skating

Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick has missed almost a month with a Grade 2 groin strain and isn’t expected to return anytime soon. The good news is that he’s moving in the right direction.

“I’m working out. I haven’t started skating yet, but that’s the next step. Hopefully within the next few days or a week or so I could try to get on the ice and see how it feels out there,” Quick told LA Kings Insider.

Exactly how long it will take for him to return once he resumes skating remains to be seen, but he’ll probably miss at least another two weeks based on Kings GM Dean Lombardi Nov. 20 estimate.

The silver lining is that his injury hasn’t really hurt the Kings. As important as the $58 million goaltender is to the franchise, they have been 8-1-3 during his recovery. That’s thanks in no small part to the efforts of netminders Ben Scrivens and Martin Jones.

The Kings have a couple days off before they kick off a four-game road trip against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday.
