Mike Green finally scored his first goal of the 2013-14 season on Tuesday, but that’s about the extent of the good news for the Washington Capitals, who lost to the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1.

Here’s that Green goal:

Again, it was an otherwise-poor night for Washington, as Jeff Skinner enjoyed a two-goal, one-assist performance. That helped chase Braden Holtby from the Capitals net, as he was yanked after allowing four tallies in two periods.

Carolina broke a two-game losing streak, improving to 11-12-5, while the Caps saw their own two-game winning streak ending (they’re now 14-12-2).
