Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brian Lashoff left Thursday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes, not because of injury but because of the flu.

He will not return tonight, according to NHL.com. He played 5:35 of ice time in the opening period.

In 18 games with Detroit this season, Lashoff had one assist.

The Red Wings entered tonight’s game without blue liner Danny DeKeyser, who on Wednesday was placed on injured reserve with a separated shoulder.
