Video: Frolik saluted by Blackhawks fans on ‘special’ night

It’s not every day that an opposing player gets a standing ovation in another team’s home rink.

That, however, was the case Wednesday, when Winnipeg Jets forward Michael Frolik made his return to the United Center in Chicago.

Frolik received a standing ovation from the crowd of 21,122 fans in attendance. He quickly stood up from the bench and saluted the crowd.

Frolik, 25, spent the last two-and-a-half seasons with the Blackhawks, and was a key contributor to the team’s Stanley Cup championship last June.

“Obviously, it brings a lot of great memories,” Frolik told ESPN Chicago prior to Wednesday’s game.

“It feels special to be back. Hopefully I’m going to have a good tonight, but obviously it’s special. I will remember this place, I think, for the rest of my life.”
