The NHL has fined Carolina defenseman Ryan Murphy for a clip on Rangers forward Derek Dorsett during the Hurricanes’ 5-1 loss on Saturday.

Following the game, Rangers head coach Alain Vingeault voiced his displeasure with the hit.
“I mean, in my opinion, that’s real dangerous,” Vigneault said. “Any time you’re going for knees, you’re looking at career-ending injuries here.”
“That was borderline very, very dangerous.”
On Monday, Dorsett spoke about the incident for the first time, as per the Bergen Record...Speaking for first time since being upended by ‘Canes Ryan Murphy on Saturday, Derek Dorsett said he’s fine, calls it a “Dirty hit.”

Dorsett said, during scrum, Murphy was saying to him, “Hip check, hip check.” Dorsett didn’t buy it. Says he’s never had a hit like that.
