Motivated Seguin returns to Boston Tuesday

Tyler Seguin

They questioned his professionalism. They didn’t think he could play their tough brand of hockey. And so the Bruins traded Tyler Seguin, the second overall pick in the 2010 draft, to Dallas.

Will they regret it? Far too soon to tell. But there’s no question it left Seguin motivated to prove them wrong.

“One hundred percent,” said Seguin, per Sportsnet.ca.

Tomorrow, Seguin returns to Boston, his first NHL home where he won a Stanley Cup in 2011, and he returns as the Stars’ leading scorer, with 15 points in 14 games.

Again, it’s too soon to tell who won the Seguin trade. Heck, they’re still debating who won the Phil Kessel trade with Toronto, the one that allowed the Bruins to draft Seguin in the first place.

But when asked how he’d like to be seen in five years, Seguin’s answer was telling.

“Hopefully a player that grew up, learned from his mistakes and became a heck of a hockey player,” he said.
