Jets snap skid, top Red Wings 4-2

littlegetty

The Winnipeg Jets came into Monday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings looking rudderless, but they came back from a 2-1 deficit to win 4-2 in impressive fashion.

The Jets out-shot the Red Wings by at least five shots in each period, generating a whopping 47-28 disparity. That eventually proved to be too much for Jimmy Howard & Co. as Michael Frolik, Matt Halischuk and Andrew Ladd generated three unanswered goals.

Meanwhile, Al Montoya is putting together an increasingly convincing argument for more starts. By stopping 26 out of 28 shots, Montoya improved his 2013-14 record to 2-1-0 and is now 5-2-0 during two sparse seasons with the Jets. May the franchise decide to move away from mediocre starter Ondrej Pavelec after nights like these?

That’s a question worth asking, but in the meantime, the Jets are probably happiest that their three-game losing streak is over.
