Video: Clutterbuck scores first as an Islander

It took a while, but Cal Clutterbuck finally notched a goal for his new team.

Clutterbuck, acquired in an offseason trade with Minnesota, scored for the first time as a New York Islander on Tuesday, sniping a wrister past Rangers goalie Cam Talbot early in the first period:

The goal evened the score at one after Chris Kreider scored his first of the year in the opening frame.

Clutterbuck, 25, had a rough start to his Isles career. He missed time with a leg laceration suffered during the exhibition campaign, then went scoreless in his first eight regular season contests, notching just a single assist.

The Isles will hope tonight’s goal kickstarts Clutterbuck’s offense. While he’s known as an energy guy that likes to hit, Clutterbuck has shown he can produce, scoring 58 goals over four seasons with the Wild from 2008-12.
