Penguins defenseman Kris Letang is “likely” to make his season debut Friday versus the Islanders.
“We’ll most likely see Letang in the line-up tomorrow,” said Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma, per Root Sports.
The 26-year-old Norris Trophy finalist has missed all nine Pens games with an undisclosed lower-body injury that he suffered in practice late last month.
Not that the Penguins have struggled without him; they’re 7-2-0 in those nine games, thanks in large part to the goaltending of Marc-Andre Fleury and the scoring of Sidney Crosby. Granted, their competition hasn’t been the toughest, and they’ve only had to play three road games.
After hosting the Isles tomorrow, the Pens head out on a quick two-game trip to Toronto (Saturday) and Carolina (Monday).
