Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky has been placed on injured reserve, the club announced today.
The move is reportedly retroactive to Saturday, when he suffered a concussion against Carolina.
Visnovsky, 37, has a goal and two assists in eight games this season. At this point, there’s no timetable for his return, but he’ll miss at least a couple of games, including Tuesday’s visit from Vancouver and Friday’s trip to Pittsburgh.
The Isles already lean pretty heavily on blue-liners Andrew MacDonald and Travis Hamonic, so losing a 20-minute guy like Visnovsky will be a test.
