Jacob Trouba, at the age of 19, has chewed up big minutes on the Winnipeg Jets blue line as a rookie, but he might want a mulligan on one certain play Friday.

In the first period against the St. Louis Blues, Trouba, the Jets’ 2012 first-round pick, went to play the puck across to his defense partner inside the Winnipeg blue line, but whiffed on the pass, giving Blues forward Alexander Steen the puck instead.

Steen, opportunistic, scored on a slap shot that beat Winnipeg goalie Ondrej Pavelec, giving the Blues a 2-1 lead, which was the score after the first period.

Giveaways were a problem for the Jets in the opening 20 minutes. They committed six of them.
