The Edmonton Oilers came out with a strong effort in the first half of Monday’s game against the Washington Capitals and the contest was consequently tied at 1 through 30 minutes. Then everything fell apart for the Oilers.

Washington managed to find the back of the net in three straight shots on goal over the span of just under four minutes. You can view that feat below:

For Joel Ward and Troy Brouwer, it was their first goals of the season. Alex Ovechkin netted his sixth goal in as many games.

“I thought everything was going fine until we brought a puck into our zone -- and that started a few dominoes to fall. That’s all it took,” Oilers coach Dallas Eakins told the Edmonton Journal.

“We get what we deserve on that. I thought for the other minutes, we played well enough to be even or better but the game is not 57 minutes long.”

The Oilers dropped to 1-4-1 and have the worst record in the Western Conference.
