Leafs’ McLaren (broken finger) out two weeks

FrazerMcLaren

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without one of their toughest players ‘til the end of the month.

On Monday, Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle said winger Frazer McLaren would be out at least two weeks with a broken finger.

McLaren, 25, suffered the injury during practice Saturday morning after taking a slash from teammate Carter Ashton.

Ashton, 22, is probably a dead man once McLaren recovers.

Jokes!

According to various reports, McLaren’s finger will be immobilized for at least two weeks (though, as the Canadian Press’ Stephen Whyno notes, typical recovery time is 4-6 weeks) and is in serious danger of missing Toronto’s season opener in Montreal on Oct. 1.

McLaren scored five points in 35 games for Toronto last year and finished second on the team in fights, with 12.
