‘Canes bringing Dvorak to camp on professional tryout

RadekDvorak

The Carolina Hurricanes have invited veteran forward Radek Dvorak to training camp on a professional tryout contract, according to the Raleigh News & Observer.

Dvorak, 36, spent last season in Anaheim, joining the Ducks late in the season after a stint with Davos in the Swiss National A League. He appeared in nine regular-season contests for Anaheim, scoring four goals, but didn’t dress for any of the club’s postseason games.

The Czech winger has played in 1200 NHL contests and, in his last full season (2011-12 with Dallas), scored 21 points in 73 games while averaging 14:17 TOI per night.

Dvorak has a decent shot of cracking the Carolina roster this season. The club only has 11 forwards currently under contract and has essentially cut ties with veteran Chad LaRose, who is still an unrestricted free agent.

‘Canes GM Jim Rutherford also said Dvorak will be the only player coming to camp on a tryout.
