Leafs’ Kadri denies report about contract demands

kadrigetty
Nazem Kadri took to Twitter on Saturday to deny a report from Sportsnet’s David Alter that his camp was asking for about $30 million over six years from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

@DavidAlter590 ur stories r so inaccurate it’s actually humorous #badcred

— Nazem Kadri (@43_Kadri) August 24, 2013

Alter responded by saying that he was “going by what he was told” and said he would be “happy to set the record straight.”

In case you were wondering, the 22-year-old didn’t share his actual contract demands via social media.

Whether the earlier report is inaccurate or not - there’s always the possibility that Kadri isn’t aware of every single detail of the negotiations - the bottom line is that the two sides still need to agree on a new contract for the restricted free agent at some point.

In other words, the hockey public might be in for a little more drama before a deal is done.
