Rugby Canada adds Brian Burke to board of directors

Brian Burke

Brian Burke admits that he’d like to be an NHL GM again, but in the mean time, he’ll wear other hats.

Along with being a scout for the Anaheim Ducks, it turns out that Burke will have a new gig, as Rugby Canda named him to its board of directors on Tuesday.

(Lengthy pause for inevitable truculence jokes.)

Rugby Canada points to his “deep understanding of professional sports in North America,” while Burke notes how he became acquainted with one of the other toughest sports around.

“When I was at Harvard in my first year of my Law Degree I used to walk by the rugby field and I asked around if I could join this exciting game and started shortly after,” Burke said.

“... I played five years in New England and I thought that was good competition until I moved to Vancouver and saw club rugby in BC and how good it was.”

Seems like a sensible match, eh?
