Manny Legace has once again landed with the Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League.

This time, he’s not strapping on the pads and playing. No, those days are behind him.

On Friday, the Falcons announced that Legace has been hired as the team’s new goaltender consultant.

It’s a hockey town Legace is familiar with. He played in Springfield on two separate occasions. It was the site of his first season as a professional back in 1994-95, and his last in 2011-12.

In his final season, Legace posted a 14-18-1 record with the Falcons to finish out his playing career.

In 365 NHL games spread out with four different teams, Legace went 187-99-18-23-24 (he played at a time when games ended in ties) and had a goals-against average of 2.41.

In September of 2011, Legace came to Vancouver Canucks training camp on a tryout in hopes of getting back into the NHL, however he was released.
