Canucks re-sign Schroeder: one year, $600,000

Jordan Schroeder

Vancouver Canucks day on PHT (it wasn’t intentional, we promise) continues with news that Jordan Schroeder has re-signed with the club.

It’s a one-year, one-way deal worth $600,000, according to the Vancouver Sun. A contract of the one-way variety is a boon for Schroeder, who hasn’t emerged as a full-time NHLer yet, but he will take a pay cut after making $1.025 million annually on his entry-level deal.

Schroeder, a 22-year-old center, made his NHL debut for the Canucks in 2013, scoring three goals and six assists in 31 games.

Drafted 22nd overall by Vancouver in 2009, the former University of Minnesota star is the current favorite to start the season as the Canucks’ third-line center.

With Schroeder, and earlier Dale Weise, signed, the Canucks only have one restricted free agent without a contract for next season: defenseman Chris Tanev.
