Flyers prospect looking to leave Sweden for North American junior hockey

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Fredric Larsson could get a change of address for the upcoming season, although it’s unlikely to be in the National Hockey League.

According to the Philadelphia Flyers Inside Reporter, Anthony SanFilippo, Larsson is seeking to play junior hockey in North America.

Larsson is a fourth-round pick of the Flyers from the 2012 NHL Draft. The now 19-year-old defenseman played this past season in Sweden, but is just coming off surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, as per SanFilippo.

“I want to come here [to North America] and stay here…I want to play this style of game. I think I can do it, but I’ have to learn it first. It’s different than in Sweden. I have to get used to it,” Larsson told the Philadelphia Flyers Inside Reporter on the team’s website.

“I like playing at home, but I think my game is best suited for here.”
