The fine folks at the The Hockey News were first to report the news about the 2015 and 2017 World Junior Championships, so here it is in their own words:

Hockey Canada is expected to announce Thursday that Toronto and Montreal will co-host the 2015 and ’17 tournaments, the next two times the event will be held in Canada. According to sources, the cities will co-host both tournaments, with Toronto getting the medal round and gold medal game in 2015 and Montreal getting the medal round and gold medal game in 2017.

The last time Canada hosted the tournament was 2012, when Edmonton and Calgary set an attendance record by drawing a total of 571,539 fans.

Next year’s tournament will be held in Malmo, Sweden.

Montreal has hosted the tourney once before, in 1978 (featuring Wayne Gretzky looking like this and final scores like Soviet Union 18, Switzerland 1).

Toronto has never hosted; the closest it’s been is Hamilton.
