Before Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final started, 20-year-old Brandon Saad had just four assists in 17 playoff games.
“Hopefully I’m saving them for this round,” Saad said.
The rookie forward’s prediction came true early on. With the Boston Bruins up 2-0 in the second period, Saad became the first player in a long time to blast a shot past Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask.

That marker ended Rask’s 149:36 minute shutout streak, according to CBC’sTim Wharnsby. Rask’s run dated back to Game 3 of Boston’s series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
