He had previously gone seven games without a goal.
And then Patrick Kane finally found the back of the net, first starting out with one goal in Game 4 against the L.A. Kings.
He then recorded the hat trick in Game 5 of the Western Conference final, as he and the Chicago Blackhawks finally put away the Kings, defending Stanley Cup champions, with a double overtime victory.
‘‘It’s nice to win first and foremost,’’ Kane said, as per the Chicago Sun-Times.
‘‘But to contribute the last couple of games — I think any player would be lying to you if they said it isn’t nice.”
Kane now has four goals in the last two games.
The Blackhawks had been getting goals from the likes of Patrick Sharp and Bryan Bickell, with both still sitting in a tie for second among NHL players with eight goals in these playoffs.
Kane coming alive, offensively, is a very timely development for the Blackhawks, as they enter into the Stanley Cup Final against the big, bad and skilled Boston Bruins.
