Video: Crawford denies Williams to keep Blackhawks close

Chicago Blackhawks v Los Angeles Kings - Game Three

of Game Three of the Western Conference Final during the 2013 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Staples Center on June 4, 2013 in Los Angeles, California.

Jeff Gross

Patrick Kane scored his first goal of the Western Conference final, tying Game 4 at 2-2 late in the second period.

But it was a Corey Crawford save on Justin Williams less than four minutes into the period that may have been the turning point of the game. Crawford threw out the poke check on Williams, who was sent in all alone on a breakaway.

That save came just after Dustin Penner gave the Kings a 2-1 lead.

Had Williams scored, the Kings’ would’ve gone up two goals - a commanding lead, considering they haven’t lost on home ice in these playoffs. Instead, Crawford kept this a one-goal game, eventually leading to the Kane equalizer.
