Report: Allaire hired as Avs’ goalie coach

Patrick Roy’s former goalie coach, Francois Allaire, has been reunited with his old pupil, who’s now the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche.

Per RDS reporter Renaud Lavoie, the two men have reached a verbal agreement for Allaire to become the new goalie coach in Denver, where he’ll work with Avs netminders Semyon Varlamov and another former student, Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

Allaire was most recently Toronto’s goalie coach from the summer of 2009 to September of 2012, when he left the Maple Leafs on poor terms.

The agreement with the Avs is for three years, per Louis Jean of TVA Sports.
