Mike Babcock has some officiating complaints, too

The most controversial bit of officiating may have gone against the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7, but that doesn’t mean that the Detroit Red Wings are too pleased about the way things went, either.

Head coach Mike Babcock noted a significant perceived difference in the way penalties are called in the playoffs vs. regular season, as the Chicago Sun-Times’ Adam Jahns reports.

“If this were the regular season, there’d be a parade to the penalty box for what goes on out there,” Babcock said.

Surely Red Wings fans can clarify this further, but the team was likely upset that Andrew Shaw didn’t receive a penalty for a hit that ended up injuring Valtteri Filppula, among other plays.

(It’s worth noting that Babcock didn’t blame the lack of calls for Detroit’s loss, by the way.)
