With the Ottawa Senators now out of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the focus turns to what the future holds for captain Daniel Alfredsson.

Was Friday’s game - a 6-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinal eliminated the Senators - Alfredsson’s last in the National Hockey League? He is 40 years of age, has 1,178 regular season games to his credit and is a pending unrestricted free agent this summer.

“I haven’t yet,” Alfredsson told reporters when asked if he had given thought to his future.

“All I can say is it’s been a great year in terms of the group we’ve had.”
