Gragnani signs with KHL club

Marc-Andre Gragnani

After spending the vast majority of the 2012-13 campaign in the minors, defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani will try his luck in the KHL.

The Montreal-native has agreed to terms with Lev Prague, according to the KHL’s official Twitter account.

Gragnani broke out with the Buffalo Sabres in in the 2011 playoffs by scoring seven points in seven contests.

He had a goal and 12 points in 44 games last season before the Sabres sent him to the Vancouver Canucks along with forward Zack Kassian in exchange for Cody Hodgson and defenseman Alexander Sulzer.

He played in just 14 contests with the Canucks and was never used in the postseason. The Canucks chose not to present him with a qualifying offer so he inked a one-year, two-way deal with the Carolina Hurricanes in the summer of 2012.

At the age of 26, Gragnani has participated in 74 career NHL regular season games.
