The Toronto Maple Leafs have turned some heads as they moved a 3-1 series deficit to a 3-3 tie, including impressing Wayne Gretzky. Head coach Randy Carlyle described his team as a tight-knit unit to the Globe & Mail’s James Mirtle after Game 6’s 2-1 win on Sunday.
“They care for one another,” Carlyle said. “They genuinely care. When you have that emotion, they’re a big family in there right now.”
It doesn’t hurt to have a goalie on the top of his game like James Reimer has been, either.
However you frame the narrative, the Buds are one game away from a rousing comeback against the Bruins in this entertaining first-round series. Winning on Monday would make for quite the happy family, indeed.
