Video: Pens score two power-play goals in 19 seconds

Kunitz goal

The New York Islanders took the momentum they gained from their come-from-behind win on Friday and dominated early in the first period of Sunday’s contest.

The Islanders found the back of the net twice in the first 5:41 minutes of play, but that’s not enough to bury a team as talented as the Penguins.

Islanders defensemen Mark Streit and Travis Hamonic were charged with minor penalties just 34 seconds apart, giving the Penguins a 5-3 opportunity. Pittsburgh, which entered this game with a 37.5 power-play percentage in the first round, capitalized on New York’s mistakes by tying the game with goals just 19 seconds apart.

You can watch Jarome Iginla and Chris Kunitz’s work below:

Sidney Crosby dished the puck to Pascal Dupuis for the Penguins third goal of the period. The Islanders could still bounce back, but the Penguins certainly aren’t folding just because they suffered one bad loss.
