Leafs coach: ‘We self-destructed’

mapleleafsgetty

To put it mildly, things didn’t go well for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins in Game 1 on Wednesday. Buds head coach Randy Carlyle had a pretty simple explanation for Rogers Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.

“I just thought that we self-destructed,” Carlyle said.

Some might say that the Maple Leafs didn’t put enough capable players on the ice, pointing to the fact that there were plenty of fighters on the ice.

While Carlyle didn’t go into specifics, he said that there will be “changes” in Game 2.

If he doesn’t name the guys who will go in and out of the lineup, it will at least open up some entertaining/obnoxious discussions in Toronto. In other words, don’t be surprised if Ben Scrivens name crops up.
