Edmonton’s loss is Canada’s gain.
That was the story on Wednesday as Oilers head coach Ralph Krueger announced that forwards Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle — along with goalie Devan Dubnyk — have all agreed to join Team Canada for the 2013 World Hockey Championships in Sweden and Finland.
Hall, 21, leads the Oilers in scoring this year with 45 points in 42 games and sits 17th overall in the NHL.
Eberle, 22, sits third on the team in points (32) but is tied with Hall for the team lead in game-winning goals, with three.
This will mark the first time Hall’s represented Canada at the Worlds.
He starred at both the U-18 and World Junior levels, but late-season injuries have prevented him from joining the senior national team.
Eberle has represented Canada three previous times at the Worlds, and finished last year’s tourney with eight points in eight games.
