The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goalie Ben Bishop to a two-year contract extension, the club announced today.
Bishop was acquired at the trade deadline from Ottawa in return for forward Cory Conacher. Since joining Tampa Bay, the tall 26-year-old is 2-3-1 with a .916 save percentage.
It’s expected Bishop and Anders Lindback will compete for the Lightning’s starting job next season. Veteran backup Mathieu Garon is a pending unrestricted free agent.
According to TSN, it’s a $4.6 million deal that will pay Bishop $2.2 million in 2013-14 and $2.4 million in 2014-15.
