There was good news for the L.A. Kings on Tuesday, and some bad news.
The good news – see the tweet below – focused on blue liner Robyn Regehr, who the Kings acquired in a deal with the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.
The bad news: veteran defenseman Willie Mitchell, who suffered a knee injury during the lockout and required surgery, needed another operation on his injured knee this week, according to a report in the L.A. Times, citing Mitchell’s agent Mike Liut.
The 35-year-old Mitchell, who hasn’t played a game all season, “should be ready for next season,” Liut told the L.A. Times in an email.
Mitchell has one more year left on his two-year, $7 million contract.
The Kings, defending Stanley Cup champions, lost 3-1 to the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday night.
