Trade deadline: Senators ‘not doing much’

Sens

The Ottawa Senators are third in the Northeast Division, but they’re only three points back of the division-leading Montreal Canadiens.

Despite injuries to the likes of big-name players Jason Spezza (not expected back before playoffs), Erik Karlsson, Milan Michalek, and Craig Anderson, the Senators just keep on winning.

Victorious in their last three games, the Senators play the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Battle of Ontario on Saturday night.

Looking a little further into the future, it seems like the Senators will remain quiet at the April 3 trade deadline, even with the aforementioned injuries.

That’s not to say that if the right deal comes along, the Senators wouldn’t consider it.

“I know that we’re not doing much ... if anything,” Senators general manager Bryan Murray told the Ottawa Sun.

“I keep watching the team and I’m fairly happy with our young people with the way they’ve played. If something comes up that is of interest, we’ll certainly explore it.

“But, at the moment, I don’t think we’re going to be driven by the fact that one player (Spezza) is out and not able to play.”
